What is Mead?
Mead is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting a mix of honey and water. There are various subsets of mead such as hydromels (typically a lower alcohol beverage), metheglins (meads with spices added), melomels (meads with fruit) and many more. The term honey wine is sometimes used as a synonym for mead, though in some situations that can be wine that was sweetened with honey rather than fermented honey. In our case, everything we call Mead has it’s primary fermentable sugars from honey.
